Little airways.
Big learning.
About the Conference
We have developed an airway training program, based on 15-years of airway research, quality improvement, and education. The program focuses on airway knowledge and skills training, in particular the important nuances of airway management that are critical to successful management of the pediatric airway. The program uses a deliberate practice model, with guided skills training and supplemental intraoral videos. The scenarios for simulation-based training are based on the most common airway scenarios in pediatric emergency care, including anatomically difficult airways and physiologic challenges. The course spans 2 days and takes place at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Center for Simulation and Research.
There will be minimal didactics, with most of the time spent on simulation-based training supplemented by video reviews. Outside of a large group discussion, most of the training will occur in groups of 3-4 participants who will rotate across multiple stations. Overall, the course focuses on the key elements of experiential learning, emphasizing hands on participation, reflection, and experimentation.
